happy surfing no1

i confess: i'm a tiny bit obsessed with blogs & i have been for a little over a year now.
it's honestly become one of my favourite bits of being online. bloglovin' always on hand, i think i must hit refresh every single time i have a moment to spare.
so why not share with you all some of my favorite reads? i promise, each and every single one of these babies has something to fall in love with. and i'm going to tell you why...

the veda house  is probably one of my all-time favorite design blogs. i dare you to find a better curated gallery, dearer examples and even a few fun features here and there. she has great collaborations, great content, and most importantly, impeccable taste!
she's a designer and has recently started sharing her love for photography, which brings extra bonus points! go check her out immediately, you might just lose a few hours flipping through months and months and months...

speaking of crazy awesome photos, meet old brand new. dabito is a wonderful man who shares his personal, beautifully grainy photography with everyone in one of the most refreshing blogs i've seen in a while. he's also got a knack for thrifting, has a gorgeous LA house, great friends and a cute pet. lovely read / visual feast.

something is definitely hiding in here. a whole lot of beautiful products, textures, amazing design, all from an amazing couple (they love to jokingly refer to themselves as charles and ray. eames. how cute?)
go back way onto the archives and discover their workshop, beautiful loft, old school letterpresses and moustaches. iii!

that's it for round one! enjoy!

that's all, folks!

it's official, everyone! i am no longer a student.
i sort of thought it would be this terrifying thing, where i wouldn't know what to do with myself. i've spent the last 15 years of my life studying, and i know how to do that. i know how to be responsible about my uni projects, i know when to go in, i know when my holidays are and when i have to pull HARD.
and now i find myself here, in a little flat so far away from home, dreaming and being full of enthusiasm.
it's the weirdest feeling.
like now i can actually do anything. like my only job now is to make something happen for myself, make my own schedule, design my own thing. it feels kind of perfect!

so here it goes!
looking forward to my final major show (8th - 12th of June in Baker Street, London, P3 Gallery) and whatever comes next!

visual orgasms no.2 - colour madness: pink

beautiful blob source

i keep getting crushes on certain colours. they just seem to be at the right place, in just the right amount. pink is, at the moment, one of them. no reason really, maybe just the need of more than shades of grey for this fine winter.

i do remember my rebel phase when i hated every and any thing that bared this colour. i was a tomboy and pink screamed girly, frilly and fashion. i finally passed this little moment (more like a year or two) by actually purchasing a bunch of pink objects. on a whim. on holiday, at a festival back home. i just instantly decided i'd buy all pink objects for the day. including food. i had a theme. and from that moment.. it stuck! i love it and can't think of a cuter colour for accesories, coupling it up with a few other tones and shades and just enjoying the feeling.

here we go! more than a few adorable images off the interwebs:

so adorable and soft
great makeup accessory too
how do i start collecting pink bottles?
i have an ongoing love for pink hair. yet again, who doesn't?
how stinkin' cute is this? retro handset crush
that pink background is to die for. brilliant tattoo as well
love love love these fags. though i haven't had one in about a year
even when it's just that splash of colour
i have an undying love for buttons. and the pinkish tones are to die for.

i used to see the world in pink (i swear i did, through an old pair of baby pink aviator glasses that i cherished some years back, that just had that slight tint that would make my view happy happy joy joy).

that's it for now, dearios, i'm off to chase the kitten down with the laser pen. woopies!!

the return of the ... alina

well, what do you know, i've not posted in months. i tend to get excited about something, overdo it and then suddenly stop. my apologies, little blog! *waiting for forgiveness.. waiting.. waiting..*

ahem, let's try this again.
lots and lots of things have happened.. had a great summer holiday, came back to london aaaand got a cat (YAY!!). without further ado, i present to you a darling little creature that makes me smile on a daily basis:

there's no doubt you'll read lots and lots of things about the sweet pumpkin, so here she is!
oh, and her name is Leeloo ♥

p.s. right now, i can only see about half of my screen because she has decided to hunt the pointer arrow again. at least she did figure out that sitting on the keyboard while doing so will get her little bottom moved frequently. love her madly though!!

visual orgasms

this week's visual orgasms are sponsored by a crazy amount of time spent on one of my favorite inspiration websites, ffffound.
it's incredibly simple and has an amazing selection of work, but that doesn't mean that i didn't spend ages going through tens of pages (haha! i rhyme now, fancy me) to bring it down to these amazing designs and visuals. hope you enjoy my picks as much as i do!
here we go...

there's something about triangles and a good selection of colours that's just so appealing!
and again - adding more shapes to the equation and some scribbles
and again!! (though this one might be my favorite)

kill me now. where do i start saying how amazing this image is? darling typography, sweet colours, great textures and the squares that remind me of my childhood games.

holy moly! lookin' good, right? link

forgive me for squeezing in this kitty
i'm a sucker for old and ruffled up publications. it gets even better when they're displaying lovely photographs

darn it, i keep finding more and more triangles. this print is adorable!!

tribute to my ongoing love for bauhaus

i like my photography with a hint of crazy concept

some dan stiles crazy-cuteness

i should mention that yellow is my favorite colour, so this makes my heart skip a beat

i'd really like to be writing this post from here

oh, btw, if you know anyone with an invite to ffffound, please redirect them to me (what i mean by that is pretty pretty please with sugar lumps on top)! i'd love to quit my vi.sualize.us account and dive right into finding gems like this a lot more often.

that's all, folks! thanks for peeking!

Newspaper Club “stupidly exciting” says BBC

today's design crush is a bit different. i want to bring to you all a platform that has managed to publish a huge number of lovely products and has even won design awards for its ingenious concept and execution. it's more than design, it's an opportunity to design in a specific way.

maybe some of you have heard of the newspaper club. i'll just use copy-paste for now, as i don't think i could explain their genius ways as well as they do:

This is Newspaper Club. We're here to help you make your own newspapers. Whatever you'd like to make by putting ink on newsprint, we'd like to help you.
Newspaper Club was made by the Really Interesting Group, and is supported by 4iP. You can follow us on Twitter, read our blog or see what people have tagged as 'newspaperclub' on Flickr.

And if you want us in a nutshell it's this; we think the web is wonderful and printed newspapers are a tremendous, highly-evolved way of reading stuff. We think combining the two is a good idea. We're not about news or any particular form of content, we're about ink on newsprint. Whatever you think would be good to print that way; we think you're probably right.

i adore the projects that they've gotten the chance to work on; it's not just because almost everything looks better printed on newspaper paper or because i love the feeling of the final piece through this medium, but because some of the designs that have been printed are breathtaking.

all images are selected from the newspaper club blog. if you have a few minutes to spare, you simply must go and read through their archives. especially some of the first posts, where they talk about the industry, testing, printing, getting the business off the ground and such.

i first came across this great little thing because it was displayed in the design museum (they were nominated for the design of the year exhibition, in graphics. whoa, right?!). i took a copy home with me and played with the idea of starting a london newspaper for about a month. i even contacted the club and had a sample sent to me. it was purrty and i ended up using it in a little project anyhow. i still hope i someday get to make that dream come true, but for now i'm grateful for the things i've learned through the exercise of trying to brand and design a different kind of newspaper (aka i made friends with adobe indesign, yay!).
i promise i'll share that story someday.

anyhow, here's some more eye candy thanks to these guys!

hope you enjoyed my crush. it's truly inspiring to see so much potential, isn't it?
